Cost Effective Tubal Reversal
as an Out-Patient Procedure
The same day outpatient technique
for tubal sterilization reversal was introduced in Memphis, Tennessee in 1987 by
Dr. Dan Martin. Dr. Martin had previously used and taught tubal
anastomosis (reanastomosis) as an
in-patient beginning in 1972 and using microsurgery in 1977. Changing to
outpatient centers and going home the same day since 1987 has decreased the cost

Dr. Dan Martin was
trained in Gynecology, Infertility, Reproductive Endocrinology and Reproductive
Surgery while in the
Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Division of Reproductive
Endocrinology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital 1972 to 1977
